One trimmer making a lot of noise in the lawn care field is the Worx 2-in-1 trimmer/edger. This product is definitely targeted for the home user with loads of features that make this an obvious choice. Let’s look at some of the features of the Worx trimmer:
Battery powered: No more messing with gasoline and endlessly pulling on a cord until you’re about to have a small heart attack. This trimmer is completely operational at the push of a button.
Lightweight: The Worx is extremely lightweight. You won’t need to depend on your 18 year old line-backer Son doing the edging anymore. My 80 year old Grandma could easily pick this product up and get to work.
Tilting head: One big issue with other trimmers is that they have a fixed head position. So, getting rid of long grass under a porch or bush was practically impossible. The head on the Worx can actually adjust to numerous positions, even flat, making it effortless to get at long grass under just about anything.
Quiet: Most trimmers sound like you’re carrying a motorcycle under your arm. The Worx, however, is extremely quiet. No waking up the neighbors!
So why doesn’t everyone buy a Worx? What’s the bad news on it?
Well, our review didn’t find much bad news at all. We could see that this trimmer isn’t as heavy-duty as the gas powered Echo or Stihl model, but most homeowners won’t care. It’s battery powered, so its use is limited to about 45 minutes at a time, until the battery goes dead, but that’s more than sufficient for most homeowners.
The bottom line is, if you’re in the lawn cutting business or a home owner with property over 1 acre in size, then you would probably be better off with the more heavy-duty gas powered Echo or Stihl trimmer that give you more operation time being gas fed. However, if you have less than a acre of land (like me – I have ¾ acre), then you’ll certainly LOVE this trimmer!
